A very strange Traffic light damage!
At first it didn't look broken, it only looked like only a small group of LEDs wer lit with rest of them dead......but on way back home, I made a U turn and found there was some damage to it!!! But I just can't figure it out!

The front lens looks like it fell out. The Dialights are sealed at the factory so this one had to have been defective. And the lens cant fall out the front... not possible unless it was shattered out

But the light isn't exactly centered...its more like upper left part of the diameter of the panel...
basilicon89   [Jun 25, 2011 at 01:53 AM]
it may have dropped out of the lens recess on the door. Some signals dont quite fit Dialights

To me it looks like it was shattered. I see some glass looking parts on the sides. If my eyes don't decieve me.

yeah i can see that too....but im pretty sure its plastic not glass.

anyway that leaves the question...how did this happen?

I can see that too but it looks like the light from the LEDs reflecting off of the plastic case of the module.

I have a similar Dialight LED and mine has a plastic lens...don't how this can happen though strange...mines glued on pretty tight.

The city I live in has retrofitted all there incandescent signals to these types of LEDs. On one, the lens is partially shattered (also a green moudle but on a 3 section body). It's cool how that little ball of light illuminates the whole lens.

We still have a lot if incandescents..LEDs are mostly under State lighting....the newest incandescent installed is the ones near me installed in 2005 to 2006

My area removed all the old incandescent heads back in 2006-2007 with new poly LED heads. Confused

Toronto retrofitted their lights to LED around the same time but they kept the ambers and beacons incandescent. Some 8" lights were never retrofitted too but they're mostly removed now

Denver has lots of LED's. Also Incandescents. But more LED's. In the Denver area they have Pixelated Red and Green LEDs but Non-pixelated Yellows. Some greens were replaced. And Now Denver replaces all of their lights with mostly Dialight new-designs. Some others are an unknown brand.. Not sure. Maybe Leotek? Hm...

Off the top of my head the LEDs I've seen used here include Dialight incandescent look, Duralight incandescent look, Swarco incandescent look, older GEs. Not sure who made the pixelated ones though.
