Old meets New
Well looks like aside from a bunch of new cobraheads as I've shown before in other pics, they put up only two new highmasts betweem the overpass...

So far for updates.....they also did similar project on another intersection up north of this one......so it seems they are replacing SOME of the highmasts lights and setup....but keeping some highmasts....although I donno the plan on the intersections affected as not ALL the ramps got new cobrahead sets...

They have JUST started removing the old high masts! They pulled down the ring sets and removed the fixtures....some are still holding the fixtures while others akready went down! It seems it's only Howard County that wants those MH fixtures removed, since in Montgomery County and Baltmore County those old MHs are still shining brightly and serviced.........

But ill admit I'ved noticed some of the setups was having issues like wiring problems and blowing fuses.....Also MHs needs to be consistly serviced...I had noticed that in my two years driving to work at night...to Target...

Mercury Vapor I would say is the HID that needs to be serviced the LEAST. Those can last a loooong time, until they dim out completly.

The MV lamp would last longer than the ballast!

It all depends what is the most important to you. If you go with the "keep-the-lamps-until-they-burn-out" method, it sure needs very little maintenance. However many mercury lamps reach a point where it's pretty much useless to keep using them.

right,an old dim lamp still consumes full wattage....sure the dim lamp works technically but it's useless because its too dim to light anything.
