Is that a Westinghouse fixture behind it? Hard to tell the model.

Looks like an American Electric, but that's not the original glass.

Nice try Very Happy it's an R47 Razz

Ah I see it now lol. In that case it IS the original glass. Laughing

Oh okay! How many R47s are their in that area?

Nice arm! It might have originally held a Powerlite mini gumball. R47s are still somewhat common in Brampton. They used to be all over the GTA but LED conversions killed a bunch of them off.

You know it may have at some point. Probably similar idea to the other upsweep lights left in the bramalea area. They were originally the same as the Toronto gumball fixture setup. @lights4life if you want to see lots of R37's come to brampton to see lots of these. Laughing
Perhaps theirs 2 different glass lens used on the R47s. Example A and Example B

Speaking of LED conversions, tonight I saw that CRANSTON is now installed LEDs!!! Shocked Shocked Shocked Apparently NGrid must no longer own the lights. This must have happened very recently since I saw a NGrid truck fixing a HPS street light just last week. An entire neighborhood is now half-LED, replacing 50 and 100W HPS. The LEDs are a very warm color. I saw them from the highway and I swear they looked like incandescent street lights. Even driving under them its like incandescent light. I love the color much more than the cold white LEDs RIDOT and Providence are using. I hope Cranston keeps using the warm LEDs, though they're quite a bit dimmer than the HPS. At least the LEDs Providence is using actually appear to be as bright or brighter than the HPS they're replacing. So far, it's just 50 and 100W HPS they've replaced. Main roads are still 250W HPS.

I'm not 100% positive, but 99% sure this is the fixture Cranston is using. The 50W replacements have one LED cluster and the 100W replacements have 3 clusters, all are a nice incandescent color.

I don't think I consciously noticed R47's had two glass types. I had to scope out areas on google maps, and notice both types are common!

@Mike: Based on recent satellite views of white LED cities, opinions that were noted was they're often brighter than the HPS they replaced and should be less blue spectrum. Apparently yellow-er LED's still have to come down in price. Looks like it is swinging that way near ya.

They do? I thought all the R47s have the glass style in the two lights above? (Except for the plastic refractors of course).
Model25FanForever   [Oct 21, 2016 at 10:08 PM]
Yeah I realized the 2 different glass types a while back. Especially noticeable on streets like these lined with them .

Could we be seeing new yellow LED's potentially in the near future?
streetlight98   [Oct 21, 2016 at 11:35 PM]
Oh OK. Those are Cooper/AEL style refractors.

@Mike Interesting that they used 3000K LEDs, over here everything used in the changeouts is either 4000K or 5000K but I think some of the test fixtures installed by Toronto Hydro are 3000K. Would be interesting if someone made yellow LEDs to emulate HPS lol.

Didn't know there's two different types of glass used in the R47. Mine uses a Holophane 4252 which I thought all the R47s used.
