Finds of the day! - 06/07/2013
A few more ballasts for my stockpile! One of the slimline fixtures was actually in very good condition, but I had to leave it behind since I'm moving out. At least it had a working Advance Centium electronic ballast!

The other slimline ballast visible in the pic has a major ground fault unfortunately. But at least the other ones are working fine.

Cool! Too bad you couldn't save the fixture but I don't have space for fixture too so I mostly go ballast hunting too.

I see a rusty sump pump, a microwave (might be worth it for the MOT) and a Tim Hortons coffee can lol.

That reflector the wraparound is lying in look cool too.

I spy 2 yellow CFLs Smile . Did you get any sockets, those are small enough to transport, unless you have plenty.

Unfortunately none of them work. The ballasts are fried. Plus the electrode leads are so rusted they just break, so the tubes can't be saved... I did save the slimline sockets, but they'll need to be cleaned.

LOL I wondered if someone would notice the Tim Hortons coffee can xD

Are these places common in Canada, I know a friend from Sanfrancisco goes to a large recycle place called Urban Ore and he finds various goodies including lamps In UK we have lots of Bootsales and the one at Wimbledon is very good and I have found many nice items (check out my You Tube same name) and LGN and ATL.

They're sorta common in Canada but you'll have to know where to look for them. A more notable chain here is called Restore which sells at lot of savaged and surplus NOS building materials. They mostly sell residential stuff but I've seen the odd HID there from time to time.
