HPS yard light installed outside.
This is one of those small HPS yard lights you get at lowes, the tiny white ones that are 70 watt HPS. Since they seem to not be selling they were on clearance for 2 dollars each. So I got a whole bunch of them. Installed one outside where the old incandescent fixture was. So a switch inside can turn it on and off, plus the photocell that is on it as well to turn it off during the day or turn it off during the night. I dunno if the neighbors will like it, but it lights the backyard of our house pretty well!

Looks nice and bright but I would consider going to Lowe's and getting a sheet of sheet metal and making a sheild for the side facing the neighboors. Or you can spraypaint part of the lens to block the light (spray black to block the light and then spray white so it matches the fixture). When I had a light outside it lit up the whole neighborhood but it was hardly ever on.

Normally I don't think neighbors would mind, especially since it's not shining directly into the windows. I know the post top (3X incandescent, not a cool HID one) in my neighbor's yard across the street gets on my nerves since it lights up my room if the shade is up so when I have my windows open, I still have to close my shade all the way so I don't get a breeze. When we have the heat or AC on I don't mind it since I have my shade shut anyways.
