Did Surgery on a Ripley Today
one of my Ripleys died in storage I guess... It worked the last time i used it. Took it out of my storage box and put it on my M-250A and it didn't shut off so I figured it was too dark inside so i shined a flashlight at the PC window and it didn't shut off. Turns out the eye was shot so I put in a new one. I don't have any welding stuff so I just twist the wires together nice and tightly and it works fine. It's a 1991 120V electromechanical unit.

Don't you have soldering iron on your hand?

No The most I have is a lighter we use to light candles and the TiKi torches outside lol. I don't have any welding/soldering equippment. Sad

Maybe, you should invest one if you are planning on repairing and developing these electronic stuff Wink

I don't know where to buy one, how much they cost, what type to buy, how to use one, or what they look like. Neutral

I think I've seen them before at Wal Mart over by where the timers, receptacles, power strips and other electrical stuff is. They're not that expensive if I remember correctly. They should be less than $20 I think.

Ah cool. I'll get one when I save up enough cash then. Smile For a soldering gun, do i need solder or do the leads of the CdS eye act as the solder?

No, you will need some solder, just some electronics repair type solder is good enough which should also be available at Wal Mart, Target or Radio Shack, looks like some solder comes included. A soldering iron here is ok but I have this type which I like much better and it heats up fast. Cool

ah okay thanks. Smile I'll look into getting one soon. Cool

You can find them at the Radio Shack as well. Probably 25 watt should be enough for general soldering like this.

You can go on line video for soldering training. I started soldering when I was about your age, maybe little younger Smile
