Some... pretty dirty lamps, wow!
Here's a pair of SPECTRO 40W T10 incandescents I got from a bunch of old stove hoods that were all greasy inside, eww! You can see the lamp before (right) and after (left).

Another thing, you're not seeing things, both lamps are actually working! For some reason they've gotten extremely black. The filaments look to be quite underdriven as they take almost a half-second to go ON/OFF xD

Ive replaced Chinese 20w Exit bulbs that are quite black like these, they still light, but very dim.

My great-aunt's kitchen light used two 60W incandescent lamps. It had always been very dim and she thought she was going nuts since it was getting darker and darker in the room over the past couple years. I took off the glass cover and the lamps were black like this! I put a pair of NOS 60W Wallgreen's lamps in it that were laying around in the basement and washed the globe. It's a LOT brighter in the kitchen now!
