This is one of Tyco Electronics/ALR's newest photocontrols. It's shorter than other electronic locking-type photocontrols and is designed to be lower cost.
is it designed to be lower quality too? Hopefully it's not as bad as the typical clear yardblaster photocell that goes dayburner in a month lol. It seems to me that ALR is a lower end PC company? I don't hear about them too much. I believe GE distributes ALR when people order GE fixtures W/ photocells. I personally like Fisher Pierce the best when it comes to current PCs. Next in line is DTL then Ripley.
Well I have seen these on Tyco Electronics/ALR's website. But I wasn't sure if I liked them because the cap is shorter than their other ones. But i saw this on ebay so I decided to buy one. I actually like it a lot. All of ALR's electronic photocontrols have a unique design with the base and cap. On other photocontrols like FP OLC/Sun-Tech, or Ripley, there are 3 little clips on the cap that snap onto the base. Well on the ALR caps, there is a ridge that goes all the way around the base and cap. So when they assemble them at the factory, Its almost impossible to remove the cap unless you go around the cap with a flat screwdriver and pry it off. But then you risk breaking it. So they are actually pretty good photocontrols.
Yeah but i like to open up photocells. DTLs are nice because they are super secure (cover is held on by screws) yet you can easily open it if you ever wanted to. I can't seem to find Tyco's PC page.
