Streetlight #104 - Fluorescent!!
Old Fluorescent streetlights at a car-wash. Fairly rare to see cool stuff like this these days! (At some point a HID wall-light was added to the pole too.)

I'm guessing they likely use High-Output lamps & Rapid-Start ballasts (also assuming they're 6-foot length, but its really hard to tell with something up on a pole like that). Don't know if they still work, but would assume so (one of these evenings I really need to get out and make a 'light viewing trip' .lol. )

I love old fluorescent street/parking lot lights like these Cool ...I remember seeing some as a kid outside a furniture store in Indiana; they were used up until the store changed ownership back around 2006 or so, and unfortunately the new owners replaced all the old fixtures with Sodium Vapor lights... Sad

Its always kinda sad to see when some place replaces nice old lights with something new & boring

I know a really old gass station light near me (older than this one I believe) still working! I will take a pic of it at night...lit has Daylight Deluze fluoro tubes I believe!

Cool! would love to see that one Cool
The car-wash on this was built in 1965, and just looking at them I'd assume those lights are original.

I know of one old gas station with what are probably 8-footers.. I've seen that one at night & they don't work (just need new lamps I'm guessing since there was a dim glow)

Cool. Did they make fluorescent lamps designed for street lights like they did with incandescents or were standard HO and VHO indoor tubes used? I know some car dealerships here have T5 HO parking lot lights that replaced MH shoe boxes. I've not seen them at night though...

the GE VHO powergrooves were standard for many years
