Icicle formation on my LED streetlight.
The interesting place where the icicles formed on my LED streetlight from the recent snowstorm. It got down to -17 when I took this photo.

wow. Do the LEDs have minumum running temperatures?
Model25FanForever   [Jan 05, 2014 at 04:30 PM]
Over here the running temperatures are -40 to 40. Thats pretty much our possible temperature ranges each year except we don't usually see -40 or even really -30's.

I think thats the storm thats coming here today.

-40 Celcius I'm guessing? I think HIDs are rated to -20 degrees Fahrenheit.

Good to know that even the LED fixtures get hot enough for this cool effect. Another cool effect is where a lot of snow falls on the fixture, blocking the eye on the photocell & turning the light on early, which is actually kind of useful when it's snowing hard!

The LEOTEK fixtures used here also get icicle formation. Some of the 183 watt fixture got like 3' long icicles on the from the recent cold/snow.

Rare when this city re-uses poles/arms for complete replacement projetcts. Is this arm... rusting?
Antstar85   [Jan 18, 2014 at 02:48 AM]
No I had this arm for quite some time and it has stain from when my father was staining his Shed years back when I still live at home. I bought my house in 2007 and installed the pole and have changed brackets a few times.

Anstar85, I have confused your picture with Model25's pictures of similar fixtures from our city, roflcopter...
