Ahh, this is the older clear NEMA tag.

Not really clear. The gold hue is much more subtle than most. In fact, I believe GE used the same style tags in their early 90s M-series luminaires in the 100 and 250 watt sizes.

The M-400 spit doors near me have metalic NEMA labels.

They're likely much older and the gold patina has faded.

that's what I'm guessing. It seems the paint wears off very easily on lights in my area. On coopers and Thomas & betts lights the paint stays, but on GE's it fades.
