Dialight 12" Integrated Signal Head (Inside)
Here is the inside of the Dialight signal head. Its designed to be replaceable once every 15 years, but they're working on making it have a 20 year life span (warranty). The LED and power supply electronics can be upgradable without changing out the whole fixture.

The power supply is designed to adjust with changing voltage levels and increase the lifespan of the unit.

Interesting, I guess it was natural for the LED makers to make the entire head (now that LED is what all new lights use) instead of just the modules.

I wonder how is the sealing on the light though. I personally prefer the permanently sealed modules currently used as they're more interchangeable and I think they might be sealed better against water and dust.

Yeah i agree with Joe about the modules being more weather and dust resistant but this is a pretty cool concept. Are the LEDs white or the color of the lens that's in front of them? Are the lenses standard incandescent signal lenses or special lenses?

I'm guessing the LEDs are the same colour as the lens like on the modules although I discovered that my yellow Dialight module actually has a couple of white LEDs inside to whiten the light.

It looks like the lens is the front coloured cover from a LED module along with the clear fresnel lens used to focus the light from the LEDs.

The front lenses (clear fresnel and outter colored) are the same used on their modules. The LEDs themselves are colored. These signals should seal like any other traffic signal head. I will be able elaborate more once mine arrives
