Lancaster Glass Reflector
Rebuilding the old Glass reflectors. A completed on is on the left, one being worked on is on the right. The frames are all aluminum. The actual reflector dish is mirrored glass. This was before the development of polished aluminum reflectors that were common in signals in the 1950s up till today.

That is pretty cool! That actually makes me wonder if there was any streetlights that used mirrored glass reflectors....

Possibly. I don't follow streetlights as close. Glass is still used in some signals. But its only an optional thing. Back in the 1930s and 1940s glass was used in all signals

Yeah each person are different! I am not really a SPECIFICALLY streetlight person....I am more of general.......I love roadway related things, like I also have a parking meter (a 1958 meter) and I have a modern style flashing "lollipop" for hazard or road constructions. I am more generally lighting guy....I am actually slowing down on Streetlight related and going on more smaller and more utility related fixtures and some sorts. like beacon lights and such.

It's cool how all the different members have their specialties. And how some of them are more general!

I am a general lighting enthusiast as well. I am mainly into incandescent and fluorescent at the moment because I don't have access to lots of streetlighting stuff, nor do I have the room for it. I can have several streetlights, but not like ... a hundred LOL.

It's also because I have a virtually unlimited source of incandescent/fluorescent stuff (my local recycle centre).

And also I created a topic in the forum part concerning which fields we are into.
