Spoke to a NGrid foreman as to why they switched from GE to Cooper. Apparently, there have been problems with stray voltage leaking from the GE ballasts.

does that mean there was voltage going through the nuetral away from the light? Was this just an issue with the 250W autotransformer ballasts? I ask becuase i still see the 50 and 100W M-250R2s with reactance ballasts getting installed.

I do not like that refractor.

It's the same has here. For once, i actually like a change Cooper has pursued. I think the lights look more like Sylvania R7s with this refractor and the lamp distribution is a million times better than the old glass lens or the plastic lens they use.

Those GEs being installed are likely leftover stock. Here in Buffalo, new 250s are Cooper. Oh, and as for the refractor design, I think it goes well with this luminaire.

Probably... NGrid has been using vast numbers of 250W M-250R2s to fix up RIDOT's freeway lights over the past year or so. Because of that, they've probably burned through their stock of 250W GEs... I wonder if that means that RIDOT will be using Cooper OVF on davits again for new installations instead of M-400 FCOs.

Oddly enough, i've never seen NGrid install any Coopers on RIDOT's freeways besides the OVF. If the light is drop lens, it was always a M-250R2 or M-400. On wood poles there's a good number of OVZ and a few OVX for 400W.

It looks like the acrylic lens but in a smaller version?
