I thought about doing that before. Only with a 4 watt incandescent instead of a dimmed out merc.

I've got some small 1w led night light bulbs I use in duckpin bowling pin lights I build. They work great. I bet that would look hilarious in a large street light.

Probably. But I might do that when I get my own house. Maybe an amber LED to look like HPS.

Probably using the same power as a new lamp. Most of the light is trapped behind the dark film inside of the arc tube. I imagine the arc tube would be hotter too.
