I recovered a couple of these during a LED retrofit project in Santa Monica. They had been first converted to series ballast 100W M.V. within the fixture head than changed again to 70W HPS with retrolux conversion lamps.

@vintagelites: I saw a lot of the LEDs in the residential areas. They seem to light the streets well.

The next wave of retrofitting in S.M. has begun. Those gum balls are doomed. Too bad since they are charming even being HPS. Also all the 405/118FWY mercury OV50's and M-1000's will be gone before this week is over. I hope I am nearby when the last 2 remote ballast OV25's in that area get the axe. one at Nordhoff, one at Roscoe.

Hey Tom, I will email you this week with news and also hope you'll be able to save that stamped OV-20 on Lincoln in Santa Monica, on the I-10 overpass.

If I get it Dave I'm giving it you. you need one ! I am still bummed I missed one of the form 402's that vanished on Santa Monica Blvd.

Thanks! By the way, CalTrans is replacing all the remaining mercs on the freeways. They are also replacing much of the lighting on the 210 between the 118 and the 134, despite already being multiple HPS/LED for a long time. The new LEDs on the 210 plus those replacing the mercs are GE Evolve Scaleables, ERS2 model, 5700K color temp (about the same as clear mercury).

Gonna miss the old shaded OV50's with the expired lamps. I have flashlights that were brighter.
