I've seen SOX lamps used at several marinas...maybe less likely to attract bugs & sea life that shouldn't be coming out of the water toward the lights.

Low pressure sodium!

This harbor area of Long beach still have LPS lighting in many parts, although many were replaced by PL fluorescent fixtures. This walkway is still all LPS. Little 18w units. Also look at the beautiful clouds and moon!
