THROWBACK THURSDAY RIDOT: Route 146 in Providece Late 1950s-Early 60s Here's the end of the Rte 146 freeway in Providence before it was extended to meet I-95. Before, people would have to get off here and drive around the streets in Providence looking for an on-ramp onto Interstate 95 lol. Note that beautiful Westinghouse OV-20 with an integral photocell and paintcan ballast. There used to be a ton of these. It doesn't say much at Wikipedia's Rhode Island Route 146 Confused

Yeah not much info available. Currently, the south end of Rte 146 is at I-95. However, on Rte 146, you can only get onto I-95 south, not north. And you can only get on Rte 146 from I-95 north, not south. In order to get on I-95 north from 146 or get on 146 from I-95 south, you need to get off at another exit and make your way to the nearest interchange with I-95.
