Something about an oxide layer to reflect IR radiation to help maintain lamp temperature. This might explain better.

well the resen they were could SOX lamps is that the SO stood for Sodium thats y erly LPS lamps were could SO lamps and the X is indium tin oXide so SOdium indium tin oXide lamp Smile
