Signal Lens Wall Art
Messing around with some lenses today. Thought it look pretty neat to have them wall mounted and backlit like this.

Also finished remasking the hand lens today, the original mask started wearing off from years of heat and weather.

Very Nice! Very Happy I think this is really cool! Cool Good job with the hand lens too. Did you just use flat black spray paint?

Thanks, if I do turn that troffer into signal wall art. I'll need to think of a way to attach the lenses. I guess I could glue them on though. Laughing

As for the hand lens, I masked off the hand, cut out the shape using a knife and then sprayed on three coats of Krylon gloss black spray paint. I used gloss black instead of flat since the paint on the walk lens was gloss. The paint on these hand lens weren't that durable to begin with. Back in the incandescent days, it was common to see the hand lens with worn out paint.

Since I was pleased with how the hand lens turned out, I might also remask the walking man lens from this signal too. I already touched up the scuffed paint but it looks pretty patchy so I might give it a new coat of gloss black paint. I think the walking man is less of a PITA to mask off compared to the hand too.

Hmm if you're really good at cutting troffer lenses, you could cut out circles and then glue the lenses with the rims on the inside so that they can't fall off.
