How Much Longer Will This R47 Stay Up?

How Much Longer Will This R47 Stay Up?

Well, since Mississauga recently announced a system-wide changeout to LED streetlights. I wonder how much longer does this R47 have before the imminent takeover by the aluminium waffled luminaires?

I love how in the document they spell percent as "per cent". Rolling Eyes Laughing

I just love how they have the obligatory DSA talk in these streetlight conversion articles. Rolling Eyes

They don't mention that the streets will be darker and the LED units are an arm-and-a-leg either. Confused

Hmm if you use the numbers in the article it should be $685.71 per lume. Razz Oh and I doubt that they last 20 years. Razz

I hope they chose better looking lumes than this though. Confused

Ick! Well, if there's any good news, it's that LED highmasts haven't been invented yet so MTO can't go LED. Razz

Good thing is I don't think the MTO plans to switch to LED anytime soon. Very Happy

It is good because f they retrofitted their highmasts to LED, not light would reach the ground anyways. Rolling Eyes Laughing

I'm guessing not that long. Rolling Eyes I found that same document back when we first heard about it, there is something on the city's website saying it was going before council but nothing saying it was approved... I wonder if it was? And that price of $685.71 seemed a little low to me, I calculated that too, just the fixtures tend to go for upwards of $1000 never mind labour, I would think there'd be a discount by the number of fixtures they'd be buying but it still seems too low. Maybe this will be a huge failure, at least that might teach other cities not to do the same, I am going to contact Enersource and see if I can get some more information, they sure aren't advertising this. Confused

$600 change might be the light fixture only in bulk ( discounted) but if you factor in all the extra hours of work I think most will stop rather quickly as the initial money runs out, and it is put on the budget further and further down and would be held back time after time until it drops off.

Yeah, they sure don't advertise these conversions, in fact the one Vaughan did during the past two years caught me offguard too. Confused
And yeah the price from the article seems a bit low to me too.
