Beware of the "Wild" leg (L3 to N)

This what we use at work in the 240v building. The 'wild leg' is 208v to neutral/ground. I've seen cases where someone was too lazy to install a 240-120v control transformer in a machine and just tap one of the 120v legs. Eventually, the machine gets reinstalled and by chance the 208v leg goes to the circuitry and things get toasted in a hurry!

NEC states the Wild or High leg is to be orange colored wire. I have seen "open delta" using just 2 transformers on small commercial or farms

Delta is the best L3 is perfect for the split ac units
Cool Don code here states the voltage be tested and has to be written on all electrical boxes wires in the panel too, for every thing not just Delta so only someone who is out of it could mix things up Laughing

Code must be less strict here then because I almost never see that, except that the outside of box has sticker with overall voltage, ie. 208v, 240v, 277v, 480v, etc.

I've never seen it.
