Very nice, I did the same to improve the macro ability of my camera, using the optical block from a scrapped ptotocopier. If you can find an old copier ( the older and bigger the better, so long as it uses a optical scanning system without any electronic imager inside) the lens assemblies are quite large, and are normally of very good quality with regards to linearity and chromatic aberration.

T8 are better for killing experiments.
