Newest Addition! The OVS
Here is my newest addition! The OVS!!! It was removed due to a bad cap....The cap is supposed to be a 13 µf but instead it was found to be at 3 µf and what had happened is it kinda blew the MV lamp inside and one part of the frame before the arctube VAPORIZED (kinda melted too)

This fixture is the next generation of [url=http://www.galleryoflights.org/mb/gallery/displayimage.php?pos=-1238] those fixtures [/url] just before the OVX!

Nice! New cap in it now? Oh, and new lamp too? Very Happy

Time for an updated pic for the mug shot with the various generations. Smile

I put a new cap in it.....but it seems according to Kill-a-Watt meter of mine, it's now overpowering 175 watt lamps....the meter read like somewhere in 247 watts....

Nice addition, and yeah I have always suspected the OVS was similar to the L-150.
Form109   [Jul 10, 2010 at 06:45 PM]
is 247 Watts Harmful to 175 Watt Lamps?........what happens if you put a 250 Watt MV in....is the Ballast itself in Good Condition?
A_lights   [Jul 10, 2010 at 07:27 PM]
Nice fixture, i havent seen those much
@form109: yes that is harmful to the lamp, since its not rated for that high of wattge, and current is higher with the wrong cap.
A 250W MV would be a good choice or get the right cap. Very Happy

GullWhiz   [Jul 13, 2010 at 01:09 PM]
This one dates to 1987 by the way!
prawnman88   [Jul 13, 2010 at 01:15 PM]
i was going to ask u that even now thats a old fixture and not around as much
GullWhiz   [Jul 13, 2010 at 02:25 PM]
There's plenty of those in MD......in both HPS and MV......they aren't in Arizona too much because the design violate the Dark Sky codes in Arizona.......Note that Arizona has mostly Powerdoor related fixtures...which follows as GE M-400A2, GE M-250A2, AE 325s, Hubbell RLCD, and probably some GE M-400A3s....This is what I saw....
mercuryvaporrocks   [Jul 13, 2010 at 06:48 PM]
There's also plenty of these in PA as well that belong to Allegheny Power, they have 175 and 250 watt mercury vapor ones and 100 watt high pressure sodium full cutoff ones as well.
LilCinnamon   [Dec 23, 2011 at 01:46 PM]
What did you do with the ballast with this thing? Since you gave the FIXTURE to Alex but you never gave the ballast or components to him.
don   [Dec 23, 2011 at 06:49 PM]
247 watts? A wrong cap size can do that or defective ballast perhaps.
