Remote ballasted merc
I connected one of my vintage floor lamps to a 100w mercury ballast. (I just plugged it into an old yard blaster)
I like the way it looks with a clear 100w merc! It's much brighter than a 160w self ballasted merc.

very cool henry!...question is will the Heat of the 100 W Merc be too much for the glass?

I'd think a 100w merc would operate cooler than a 300w incandescent.

Yeah, it's cooler than a 160w self ballasted merc.
btw, I noticed the yard blaster I used has an H-42 ballast for some reason. It says to use a with 100w merc.
