Certainly cool to see it converted rather than scraped...but wont look right.

Wow nice find......do you have any idea when the conversion was done? Dave I know some of such lights were also found as mercs in the area ya know...what if it was a merc?

If it is HPS it is easy to convert to MH with a quick relamp.

If you are in Europe or in Africa.....but if in US....most likely not....but its possible

Metro here is (in)famous for relamping with whatever is on the truck, fits and lights up. I often see a line of HPS with one MV in it, or a line of MH with a single HPS in it. I have seen a few times a 80W lamp plugged into a 400W ballast.

How do I know? I have seen it lit up.
GullWhiz   [Jun 13, 2011 at 12:23 AM]
No dave, I mean how do you know what it formerly had? Because some had remote ballast MV in series! And do you know when it got converted?

Well look, its obvious. Its old, 40s vintage, and set up for series operation. There are two other span wire installations on the same street nearby, and they are series incandescent.
vintagelites   [Jul 29, 2013 at 10:03 AM]
They were incandescent clear up through the 90's. I used to live around there. Victory Blvd had many series span wire deep bowl teardrops still in service late in the game through North Hollywood. have not checked lately. Neighborhood dates back to the early 40's to mid 50's. Doubt most still exist.
