It's kinda far away from the road. And the tree is property of the residence, how did they get premission to remove it?

Yeah the lights are pretty far back on this road. The property behind it seems to be abandoned. The city can prune trees that interfere with the street lights without permission, I don't understand why the light was replaced though Sad

The lights around here are about 6" from the curb. Then again, the poles get knocked over all of the time if they're metal.

I believe the standard here is three feet, needless to say thats recent, some of these are halfway up peoples lawns - 16ft back from the road Shocked

Gosh. They're called street lights not yard lights. Shocked There's no standard here, just where ever N-Grid places the pole.

Here all the lights are city owned so they make the standards for the contractors they hire.

Oh. Lights on wood poles here are owned by the power company (National Grid; NG for short). Metal poles here are either on state or contractor development properties. The poles are owned by those said people.

Here lights all lights are owned by the city (or by the province of Ontario), the utility company doesn't own of service any of the lights.

Oh, the utility leases them to the city.

No, the city owns them and then has a contractor maintain them, the utility has nothing to do with them (well beyond supplying the electricity)
