Mini Highbay Design For Andy This is what I had in mind Andy. "A" is a 6X6X4 enclosure, B is a threaded 1/2" rigid nipple, C is an outdoor round box cover, D is an outdoor round box, E is a snap-in lamp socket, and F is a galvanized steel bucket, 11" diameter and 9.5" tall. The cost of these materials is a little over $40. The only thing missing would be paint and mounting brackets for the ballast, which wouldn't add more than $15. Oh and a mounting method. Though I have some chain I could use. Food for thought at least. Lemme know what you think! Keywords: American_Streetlights

It's an idea all right! I had a crazy idea, what about a hanging lamp?

Yep and this design uses all pre-made parts so there's little fabricating involved and everything would look clean and smooth (no rough cuts, etc)

Like a single lamp chandelier? I think Trent did that in his dorm. I like the vaportight idea better but both would work.

I remember him doing that, and UniversalDave also did it in various iterations, I think even a table lamp. One of his originals was a 2X50w MV powered by a 2X40 RS ballast, I believe an old Universal Therm O Matic, just that and two pullchain sockets on a board. I think he also did a 75w one as well.
(the 50w MV is electrically similar to an F34T12 so as I recall it worked pretty well)

No they won't teach me technical drawing. I learned how to draw the picture above from high school art classes.

BTW this picture was actually drawn on white paper. It appears orange because of the 150W HPS street light used as source lighting for the pic. Cool
