how do those 4-bolt slipfitters work anyways? Is there some sort of spring under the clamp or something?
mercuryvaporrocks   [Sep 20, 2012 at 11:21 PM]
My American Electric 125 Series street light has the same slipfitter.

4 bolt is standard on these fixtures although you can order them with 2 bolt.

@Mike, 4 bolt is really no different than 2 bolt except for mounting more securely to the pole bracket.
streetlight98   [Sep 20, 2012 at 11:36 PM]
Ahh so it still has the level steps?
gramirez2012   [Sep 20, 2012 at 11:42 PM]
Actually it doesn't. The fixture is level when all 4 bolts are tightened evenly.
streetlight98   [Sep 21, 2012 at 12:07 AM]
Yeah but what makes it tilt? There has to be some sort of spring or curved piece under there otherwise the fixture wouldn't tilt. Neutral

It doesn't tilt, really. The inherent design of the slipfitter bracket keeps the fixture level. See this pic: LINK

Four bolt fixtures do tilt. Usually there would be a raised hump molded into the top housing under the slipfitter clamp. You would tilt the fixture by loosening the two back bolts and tightening the two front bolts, or loosen the front and tighten the back.

Yeah Now i have a couple of 4-bolt fixtures and it makes sense now lol.
