ACC (pic 1)
Sure, the main focus is not a light, but there's probably atleast 1 light somewhere in the pic .lol.

'Arapahoe Community College' in Colorado. (side view)
Nice solidly built concrete building. Don't have to worry about the weather harming a structure like this!
Even if you didn't know its age you can basically tell it was built in the same era as the college in this pic and this one posted by traffic light1

This view shows part of the side/back. Its 4 stories tall (well technically there's a small 5th floor, but its not accessible to students, and I believe just contains mechanical/HVAC/electric/etc )

Location:
Littleton, CO

Yeah these "Brutalist" buildings are incredibly solid. These buildings will outlast the human race as long as they're not torn down, which has been the trend lately to get rid of these "ugly" buildings. I think they're really cool looking and new buildings are built like garbage. Rolling Eyes

Love it ! Knight is non ductile concrete ISL (Ice snow load) Thats why Knight has massive beams and columns Ice is supper in weight 18 inches of ice is 90lb a sqft so thats 9.3 million lb on Knights roof. This being in CO is most likely ISL

Been in this building before, it is nice inside as well. I got a few videos of the restrooms inside and last time I was there they were remodeling parts of the building. I don't remember the lights inside because I didn't pay attention, but it has been years since I was in this building last. Maybe I should come back in here after I officially move back next week, but not entirely sure though.

Yeah ice/snow/water is very heavy. The Knight Campus is a FEMA building too, so if a natural disaster or any Apocalypse type thing happens, that building serves as a shelter. Knight is WAY up on a hill too so it would be a good place to go in a flood.

@Mike/streetlight98:
Yep, those 'Brutalist' buildings would probably outlast most any modern 'build it at the cheapest cost' commercial building. Probably the only 'weather' you'd have to worry about would be an earthquake Surprised
And yep allot of people look at a big concrete box and think its 'ugly' or 'looks like a prison' .. like you I think they're unique and kinda cool looking.
I think we can assume for something like Arapahoe or Knight the buildings are completely safe from being demo'ed, since in either case that building is the main part of campus. Smile
I have a pic of the front of this building somewhere too.. I'll have a look on my other computer sometime & post it.

@traffic light1:
Oh yeah Ice (like liquid water) is damn heavy!
Knight is built even tougher than Arapahoe looking at some of your pic's...but makes sense since you guys get more snow (and especially if you do get lots of ice buildup)
Arapahoe is likely ISL, but I really have no idea how (or if) you could tell just looking at it?

@Lil'Cinnamon:
I know that you actually mean overview of the various plumbing fixtures, but... "videos of the restrooms" sounds like something for pornhub or xtube Laughing Laughing
At one time the lights were nearly all F40T12 RS (most being nothing special - standard troffers/wraparounds/striplights/etc), but by now they're probably replaced by generic T8 fixtures.
There were some neat F96 tandem uplighters in some of the computer labs years ago...um well, decades ago actually. When I saw those even as a kid I kinda wanted one.
If its been years since you were last there, they've done a bunch more remodeling.

@Mike/streetlight98:
Snow can really vary (atleast here it does) the stuff in the middle part of winter is light and contains little water (some of it doesn't even 'stick together', you couldn't make a snowman out of it or anything) The spring/fall snow on the other hand is wet and weighs a ton! Laughing
I doubt Arapahoe is any sorta 'official' shelter, but I'd thing certainly could be used for one if needed (though we really don't get any sort of massive storms out here...though there is always that chance of some oddball '1000 year storm' for floods or tornadoes or whatever I guess)

Oh and I happened across a website you might like brutalism.online

I did out all the load calculations on knight, the columns and beams are massive thats how I found out it was built for a massive snow / ice load.

That's really cool traffic light1
