Dumpster find, found this 120v to 240v 2kVA step up transformer. Perfect for running any 240v lights or that 240v SBMV I got a few years ago. Weighs a ton too lol. It's already wired with a NEMA 5-15 plug and 6-15 socket.

Thanks! I was gonna make a fused 240v adapter to plug into the unused range outlet in my basement but this is more handy.

Nice, how many watts could it handle? I actually found a 240 to 480 step up transformer at an electronics show a while back. I passed on it though.

2kVa is 2000 volt-amps. A volt amp is the same thing as a watt so long as the power factor is one...

LOL I have a dryer cord with a standard 15A duplex plug wired into the end of it in a junction box. Not code compliant but it allows me to use my 240V lights... Right now I'm trying to talk my parents into letting me hardwire the street light on my deck. I'd use some 12/3 and run a 120/240 circuit out to the light so I can use 120 or 240V lights. I have a triple-pole switch that I'll use to switch the two hots and the neutral (just because lol) from the basement. I figured out I can easily tap into the 100A subpanel in my utility room and can poke outside through the PVC LB fitting for the AC condenser, which is piped on the outside of the house.

Yeah if you're running a resistive (incandescent) load off it then you can use watts = volt amps but for inductive loads like ballasted lights its better to find the volt amps using the rated current.

My streetlight is still plug in but I extended the PVC pipe from the deck outlet to it so it's practically hardwired lol. I chose not to hardwire it since I want it controlled using a WiFi outlet adapter and to allow me to quickly take it down. Whoever installed my AC did a pretty hack job with the wiring, it''s wired with UF sticking out the wall and there's no outdoor disconnect, although maybe codes back then didn't require pipe or a outdoor disconnect lol.
