I finally ran a 240 volt line out to the garage the other day and now I can run the vintage lights I have with the original ballast instead of swapping them out. All I did was branch off the A/C circuit in the basement and used a standard receptical and plug I made the white (neutral) wire one of the hot legs and the bare copper (ground) the neutral since they both are on the same lug in the main panel. I know it's not to the NEC but it serves it 's purpose. Now I wish I had some of the 240 volt lights that I let go just because I have 240 available. Oh well there will be more to come hopefully.
