Photocontrol Receptacle Setup for Landscape Lighting
streetlight98: Here's a picture of the photocontrol receptacle I wired up to plug into the covered outdoor electrical outlet outside our house. The white PVC is the pipe that the wire for the receptacle is going through. I know your supposed to use gray but this is what i already had. It's not permanent anyways cause i'm in the process of removing all the landscape lighting from the yard. They are plastic lights and the sun has dried out the plastic and they don't look good anymore.

Looks good! Cool Where'd you get the receptacle for the photocell? Just to double check, are you sure using an extension cord as wiring complies with the NEC? Neutral

I ordered the receptacle from Graybar. It's an Intermatic receptacle. As you can see, I'm currently using a Intermatic 120v thermal photocontrol. I've switched this photocontrol out so many times to try different ones. And I know using an extension cord doesn't comply. I did put it in PVC pipe though to protect the cord. Except for the end of the cord. But this receptacle I will be probably removing soon cause im removing all the landscape lighting from our yard.

I think to wire it to code, you would have to hardwire the photocell in between the wall outlet and the breaker box and then just have the outlet controlled by the photocell. That other sensor thing to the left is for an in-ground sprinkler system right? I have one of those on the side of my house too lol.

Yeah thats a rain sensor. We installed the whole sprinkler system ourselves. Thats another one of my interests other than lights. Sprinklers Very Happy
