CVS/Pharmacy bulb aisle - where are the incandescents? They were hoarded! The empty shelf on the bottom is for the soft whites waiting to be restocked. Too bad incandescents are already getting quite rare over there. Here they are still plentiful, even the reduced wattage ones aren't arrived here.

No they are still common here. The hardware store across the street has plenty. Over 80% of bulb sockets in households here still have incandescents.

The ban of the incandescents is excellent. I think Violent EOL (Like ballast frying or fire) in major brands self ballasted CFLs in the US (like Sylvania, Philips, GE, Feit etc...) is dedicated to Norta America, because here in Israel i had never come up with such violent EOL with major brands CFLs (Like Osram, Philips, Eurolux, Hyundai etc...) even if they was made in china and has a helical shape. Only with unknown brands, poor quality chinese CFLs i encountered such types of EOL (Even with chinese moderate quality CFLs that branded "Luxten" i didn't encountered violent EOL yet).

Israel is also a part of the Incandescents ban, and i actually saw that many homes in Haifa for example replaces incandescets with CFLs (Both indoor and outdoor) (I have even saw that in Stela Maris center they replacing 125W MVs with ~30W daylight CFLs). Non "Home depot" style shops that also sell small quantity of lamps and small electricity shops today sells ONLY CFLs. Only "Home depot" style of shop like ACE and Home Center shops still sell incandescents. I think the americans don't like the incandescents ban because of the reasons that i wrote in the previous comment regarding of violent EOL of major brands CFLs in North America.

The same CVS pharmacy has Cool White CFL there as shown at top shelf between those two GE CFL's.

@dor123: By any chance posting Israel incandescent bulb? I would love to see that...
