Left one is tube lamp. Right one is spiral lamp.
Left one last 6000 hours. Right one last 10000 hours.
Left one has 380 lumens. Right one has 400 lumens.
Left one saves you $23. Right one saves you $39.
Left one is general purpose. Right one is track and recessed.

Wait a minute! Did you switch the lamps in the packs? A spiral lamp in the good label pack and the tubular lamp in the bad label pack.

This is just that crap way to penetrate the helical junks into the market.
Helical CFLs have NEVER EVER more life and efficiency then tubular CFLs.
Wants even more worse things?
GE recenly launched a range of Helical T2 CFLs called "LongLast".
GE claims that the LongLast T2 Helical is more efficient, better and brighter then tubular T3 CFLs and that they have 15,000 hours life.
Well, the 15,000 hours life and the 20,000 switching endurance, may be as a result of an Ingenium like ballast (Megamen style ballast).
But what about the heat of the tube which is much more intense with helical than a tubular lamp. This may reduce the life of the ballast.
Also the LongLast lamps have a mere 0.9mg mercury content, much lower then the ALTO lamps. Think of mercury starving and less efficiency because of this.
Also, the only way to make the helical CFLs more efficient then at least liquid mercury tubular CFLs is by using the environment friendlier amalgam which can allow the lamp to operate at low pressure and high efficiency also at high tube temperature.
