I'm glad today to have a few packs of canadian soft whites, they have a much thicker coating than those newer mexican ones.

We only have a few more months left of the US GE soft whites, the Winchester VA lamp plant is closing around July 26th. 3 way and A-15 operations are being transferred to Mexico in February.

Sad... is this only affecting GLS lamps? I mean, lots of bulbs are made in US, like PARs, some reveal lamps are made in US as well.

Yes the Winchester facility only makes A-line lamps. They also make the US made Reveal A-19s. The reflector lamps are made at the Ohio Lamp Plant in Warren, OH.

OK, so the reveal R20s, PARs etc. are still gonna be made in US, that's cool. However the bug lights would be made in Mexico from July. I like the little bug on the etch.

GE bulbs from Dollar General

Dollar General still stocks GE bulbs in the old package labelling. Since there are no Dollar General stores in California I bought these in Florida and smuggled them here. The 75w bulbs are USA made, the 100w bulbs are Mexican made as evidenced by the etches.
