Here is the inter-working quartz tube construction that GE continues to use axial shape.

In this example, show burned out quartz bulb that I broke the outer envelope to show what it looks like.

It was already burned out when I broke the bulb...

I came across one of these too, its also dead and currently waiting to be recycled.
