Philips IQ lamps - Dimmer and Auto-Off
I found these lamps in a small Home Hardware. There was also a bunch of Back-up lamps, but I didn't have the money to buy one of each. I will buy the Back-up if I get to the same Home Hardware again.

They could make self ballasted CFL with these functions instead of using these in an inefficient light source. These new incandescents may encourage peoples to buy more and more inefficient incandescent lamps instead of the much more efficient CFLs and LED retrofit lamps, severally cause the US to become an environmently unfriendlier region.

Those are actually old lamps from the early 90s anyway....They are not made anymore so please Dor123 you don't have to worry, but please stop attacking incandescents, I prefer incandescent over CFL as sometimes CFL gives me headaches and they do give some radiation and give people seizures, and causes fire hazards ....

Vince...I would love to have those! I really really would like to have one of each! I don't have such a thing like those! I remember seeing those for sale though!

The fire hazard is because the ballast of the cheap major brands CFLs uses lamp electrodes fusing as EOL protection but in 120V the US major brands CFLs needs a voltage doubler so the electrodes fusing is slow and the electrolytic capacitor overheats and cause fire. I don't know why US major brands don't use another means of EOL protection mechanisms if electrodes fusing are dangerous and not suitable for US mains voltage. These CFLs shouldn't be passed the ANSI standards.

Right...so Safety is very important...so it's better to consider safety and continue the proven well working safe ones and work on the flaws of the ones that are not safe before PUSHING CFL or anything. Plus I would totally go for higher efficiency incandescent over CFL. Here's what I would make a rule is NOT to ban a light unless you can make a better one that is IDENTICAL but more effeicent...it would have to be same CRI, same brightness, same "Feel" same all that....there are people there who do not like BRIGHT HARSH lights...and prefer a soft glow! There are some people who prefer having greener (in literal color terms) lets say Cool Green fluorescent, some people would prefer to be under them, that shall be respected and NOT taken away...If you could find an alternatives to make same Cool Green lights with more efficiency...then GREAT! Remember people have preferences...respect them...dont take things away from them!

You're right, efficiency is not necessarily what people are looking for. Things may be different in Israel. Here in North America, we have serious issues with CFLs. As far as LEDs are concerned, they're OK new, but after a few hundreds of hours, they dim out, 90% dimmer at 1 000 hrs for some models! That's why Canadians and Americans still stick to classic incandescents and fluorescents, because nothing beats them yet.

Let's take a good example of Jace's rule: Carbon arcs. They have been replaced by incandescents which give the same high-CRI white light but with more life!

These CFL ballast must be passed by Underwriters Laboratories and Canadian Standards Association to avoid electric shock and fire hazard by regular handling and regular lighting uses.

I have the same bulbs but mine are made by ABCO.
