Embarrassed Thanks Dave.

What's the age of it? nice lamp BTW! Cool Looks similar to my Westinghouse lamp.
Silverliner14B   [Dec 06, 2012 at 09:51 PM]
The angled insulator on the base and the single frame both came along after the rebrand from Westinghouse to Philips.
streetlight98   [Dec 06, 2012 at 10:07 PM]
So mine is a true Westinghouse lamp? When was Westinghouse bought by Cooper Crouse-Hinds? i'm guessing it wasn't long after the time my lamp was made.
Silverliner14B   [Dec 06, 2012 at 10:15 PM]
Yep yours is a Westy. The lamp division of Westinghouse was sold to Philips in Feburary '83. The fixture division of Westinghouse was sold to Crouse Hinds in September '82. The lamp above is most likely 1984-86.

Is today's Westinghouse a totally different company or are there still ties to the pre-80s Westinghouse?
A_lights   [Dec 06, 2012 at 10:23 PM]
yeah its owned by Abco and some others, yet westinghouse fluorescents today are phllips Alto in disguise
Silverliner14B   [Dec 06, 2012 at 10:23 PM]
Totally separate, today's Westinghouse was formerly known as Angelo Brothers Co, which sold cheap imported bulbs, fans and accessories under the Abco name.
streetlight98   [Dec 06, 2012 at 10:24 PM]
Abco? Do they actually make their own lamps or rebrand other company's lamps as westinghouse lamps? Are their lamps any good? I'm guessing they wanted the Westie name so people would buy their products thinking they were top-notch?
Silverliner14B   [Dec 06, 2012 at 10:30 PM]
Nope they make nothing, all bought from various outside suppliers. They got the rights to the Westinghouse name for lighting in 1997 and in 2000 they changed over to the Westinghouse brand, after selling both brands for two years.

i remember seeing a few Abco F40T12/CW lamps at my grandparents condo
