They may use the LPSs to light the road instead of the parking lot, because in parking lot, the CRI is important.

the road is serviced by the electrical company and the electrical company does not install or use LPS...the parking lot is owned by the college campus.....so those are owned and serviced by 2 different utility service....so those MV installed in 1965 are serviced by the electrical company and the LPS are serviced by whoever has a contract with the college....

In the USA...in the 80s HPS and LPS on parking lots were pretty common...and those fixtures were install roughly in the 80s as I remember seeing those LPS back in the early 90s. The MH are becoming more common for parking lot lighting now days but we haven't had any problems with those LPS and those MV fixtures was recently serviced about a year ago and doing well! The campus had a lot of HPS shoeboxes in the walk areas, but due to some recent construction that still is under construction they are slowly replacing the shoeboxes with fancier looking fixtures with pulse start MH!

Cool pic. My college has HPS shoeboxes and cobraheads and MH walkway lights. Rlshieldjr told me the poles with the HPS cobraheads originally had teardrops.

I took more shots tonight and took a day shot of this same road but in opposite direction!
