Cool! You're looks a lot more worn out than mine does! Shocked i think mine's either from '75 or '78. Joe told me but i forgot exactly when....

I have one of these as well. I believe mine is from 1968, still works and is extremely sensitive.

I find it interesting how some photocells are extremely sensitive while others are not, even for the same foot-candle rating. I like that there are sensitivity options with PCs, though i prefer more sensitive PCs over less sensitive ones. The less sensitive the PC is, the more money it costs and it also will subtract from the life of the lamp by increasing operating hours.

And waste energy and money! My 1993 FP PC on my ElectriPak 175w MV area light isn't exactly sensitive and seems to have a LONG delay!

a long delay means it's a thermal photocell. you can try an electronic PC if you can find one. If not someone here may be able to send you one.

Yeah, I might try...but it's cool to have a light with it's original ballast, bulb, and PC!

Most photocontrols I have acquired within the last 10-15 years from home centers (retail stores) or that come with fixtures turn on too early and off too late....such that they come on during dark rainy days. If you have fixtures near trees or under a house eave, they might run all day during a dark winter day. I swapped about a half dozen hard-wired mini-photocells in several wall packs I had that were doing this and only found two that worked the way I wanted. Quite annoying. Many would turn on over a half hour before sunset on a SUNNY day!

My area light (...) and yes that's a tacky setup I did there but it works) only shuts off in direct sunlight, but that's probably because it IS installed under an eve...oh well. It isn't in dusk-to-dan use anyway.
