Prescolite 100w MV Recessed Downlight
Those of you who saw my series of pics of the Ryerson cans might know what is. Anyway this is a 100w mercury vapour recessed can that was recently removed and destined for the scrap heap that I managed to rescue. These were used as accent lighting thoughout the library building but were disconnected in the mid 90s and replaced with T8 fluorescent indoors and MH wallpacks outdoors.

Not sure what I want to do with this though. The ballast shown in the inset is still intact but it's a 347v single tap so I can't really use it. I'm tempted to reuse the socket cup and the reflector and turn it into a mini bay and then discard the rest. The reflector is around 10" in diameter and I could probably reuse the ballast case too.

Fixture is a older Prescolite recessed light similar to ones on page 16 in this catalogue. They updated the design as mine uses a plain core and coil ballast in a steel case while the ones in the catalogue have custom potted ballast in a aluminium case or a f-can ballast depending on the model. It didn't have the trim which was the milligroove baffle in the catalogue page but I did get an older GE 100w A23 merc from it.
