[Gone] Powerlite B2217 Even though the advent of sodium in the 90s meant the old mercury lumes had to go, a small number of mercury lumes got converted to HPS saving them from replacement. Is that a steel Tapered E arm?

Yeah it is, some of the older poles used these and our longer arms are usually steel.

I know some very rusty steel tapered arms in Hagerstown, MD...and I mean really rusty! They aren't too common....Hagerstown is one of the few places I know that got a bunch!

There are some steel tapered arms in Burbank, CA which has its own utility. You have lots of 200w HPS up there?

We have a few 200w lumes, they're mainly used on arterial roads but I've seen the odd residential street with them before.

I've seen 250w HPS lights on a dead end road! Shocked it was because the old OV15 were 250w MV. For billing purposes they have to install the nearest wattage they lease unless the lights were requested to be replaced by a lower wattage.

i think so too. But when the ballasts die, there's really nothing you can do. There's one OV15 left. There's a few other mercs too. A M-250R (bail latch) and i THINK a unistyle 175.

250w MH or CMH would be a better choice then.

On a dead end street?! And National Grid would NEVER install any type of MH lamp source. Only the citrus lamps. Laughing I think they should have used their common sense and installed a 100w light. 175w CMH would be the best option IMO.

I thought they didn't make 175 PSMH lamps? Anyways 150w or even 100w CMH would be better.

Maybe not CMH, but PSMH they sure do. How does the lumen output of CMH compare with the equivelant HPS wattage?

Do CMH lamps cost a lot more than PSMH lamps? MH seems to be a no-no here.

The 100w CMHs in Pasadena seem to be comparable to 100w HPS, I got a night shot but will see if it came out good. Yes CMHs cost more than quartz lamps. The Philips CMH allstart lamps are cheaper than HPS retrofit lamps though.

Haven't been back since but this most likely got replaced by a philly waffle.
