personally i don't care much for *Cram Lamps* i would think that there's more thermal stress on the arctube.
This must be a Position restricted lamp with those Indentions in the screw base?

Those indentations are to hold the base and bulb together.

easy way to tell...if it has a circle "Hg" on it then 2010 but if no Hg on it then 2000

Must be 2000 as it has been in use for many years and we got a box of 6 to replace one at ahother location about 8 years ago. Doesnt have Hg symbol on bulb.

I have a 250w metalarc that hasthat white stuff chipping too. Is that a bad sign?

My 1KW Sylvania also has it, I don't think there is anything wrong with it being like that.

I replaced another 400w cram Sylvania, seemed to last quite a while, even at horizontal burn.
