I'm using this pic of a late model OV20 as a reference for an idea I came up with. As you know, the advent of LED and O-LED lighting allows the use of much smaller space for the driver and diodes than traditional streetlights. So, here we go. Why not build an exact replica of the OV-20 housing with the 4 bolt slipfitter, but have a provision for a low profile P-Cell window on top. Then, utilizing the same hinge and latch assemblies as the original, the module would consist of a stippled acrylic or polycarbonate globe with the diodes on a mounting plate, then on the backside of the plate would be the driver, terminal board, and (if ordered), a P-Cell. This module would also be ideal for retrofitting existing OV20s and Ovalites as there would be a replica of that available too. In the case of a retrofit, the glass, lamp, ballast, reflector, and socket would all be removed, new wiring from the P-Cell or pole would then be fished through the housing, landed at the terminal board, hung and latched. Retrofit complete!!! Whaddayathank??
