New OVX inside view.
Big ballast, no lamp, I need to get one. More pictures when I get home. The light was 230 dollars at Lloyd's electric supply in Branson Missouri. Nice light. And it's clean. Made the 35th week of 2014.

Nice! Looks just like my two OVXs except mine have the old style hinges of course, with the metallic Electromark tags. Mine are from 1995 and are 400W HPS, 120/480V (just those two taps for whatever reason).

This is a multi tap with everything but 480 volts. Nice light though. Wasn't that expensive and brand new. Would you ever want a brand new OVX?
streetlight98   [Nov 25, 2015 at 07:17 PM]
I see that. Mine has the same ballast, but just the 120 and 480 taps, and they're wires with insulated slip-on connectors instead of the ballast having spade connectors. My OVXs are new (well NOS anyway). I cleaned out a shed with my grandpa and got a TON of NOS lighting and electrical stuff. See here and let me know if you are interested in anything!

$230 not expensive? I'd say that's pretty expensive! Not that expensive for a brand new cobrahead is in the ballpark of $75-150.

Well maybe it was expensive, but that is how new streetlights cost regardless. On Ebay they seem to be cheaper but when you buy them at the supply store that is the regular price. I got my 250w AE 115 for 75 at Graybar but that was on sale. This OVX was not. But I like it nonetheless.

Those places are overpriced in general. They put like an 80% markup on everything it's ridiculous. If you had the ability to order right from the manufacturer you could get a light for much much less than you'd pay at a wholesaler/distributor.

Hmm I dunno, how much have you seen an OVX like that for sale from the company? Exclusing ebay or ones on a discount or ON sale? I think most of them are like that. What is the cheapest you have seen? How did you get your OVX again?

I got my two OVXs from a shed I helped my grandpa gut. It was FULL of lighting and electrical stuff. All NOS stuff from the 80s and 90s. The OVXs were in their boxes but all soils from mice living in them at one point and the roof developed a leak and brown crap ended up on top of one of them. Both cleaned up nicely though.

Where was the shed and why was your grandfather gutting it? What are you gonna do with the other OVX? I mean I don't need it I got three of them already but someone else could still want one. -shrug-

I hope to mount one of my streetlights outside on the new property my parents are building. I want to get my parents to have the builders put up a utility pole and install one of the arms I have. Not sure what light I would put up maybe one of my OVX's or something.

Massachusetts. That's what he does for a living. The other OVX is for someone else but I'm holding it long-term until he comes up here. That one doesn't have a PC socket either but I'm only concerned about the one I'm keeping. Yeah it would be awesome to have a light pole (or several!) along the property! If it's a large rural lot, a pole for the driveway and then several along the perimeter of the back yard. I'd totally love that... Very Happy
