Lamp Bans are Dumb.

This is crazy. They banned bad bulb because it pollute by electricity waste and efficent bulb goes to trash/recycle - same pollution problem.

Yes, it's crazy. They have banned all "non-clear" (frosted) lamps that won't reach Energy Efficiency class A (which only fluorescents and LEDs can reach) and by 2016 they will ban all general purpose lamps that won't reach class B, which is practically everything that is not a CFL, LED och the new expensive IR reflective low-voltage halogen lamps with integral transformer (like Philips EcoClassic50).

Fortunately this only applies to non-directional bulbs, but I'm sure they are already planning on slaughtering them as well.

T12 fluorescent tubes will go in 2012, halophosphate T8 this year (April?), MV in 2015 (but NOT SBMV!!), some of the less efficient HPS lamps 2012.
I hope I haven't forgot anything...
