Vintage GE Streetlight
Normally I don't grab someone's pics and post it here but when I saw this pic I had to get this in here!

I was like WHOA!! when I saw this pic. I want to get this streetlight for sure! Unfortunately it's extremely unlikely any of us would ever own one of these.

Anyone want this picture can go to ebay and paste this number there: 270821583951 According to the other pic it's from 1958.

Wow! I wonder how heavy that would be? It even has internal cooling fans! Shocked

Can't even imagine how any of us can store this beast. If it had 8' PowerGrooves... YIKES! My folks would look like this. -> Shocked Then this -> Mad "NO WAY ON EARTH YOU'RE BRINGING THAT IN HERE!"

Notice the early Power Groove lamps - the grooves are very long. It would be awesome to find some of these lamps somewhere.

Whoa!! What a beast! Cooling fan...one ballast per lamp, this thing means business.

No way to confirm it but I think the grooves are on one side. The side facing the reflector might look like a T17. Has anyone ever seen one in service or a pic of one anywhere? Confused

Nice picture! I've wanted to post about this bad boy too, check out those heavy VHO ballasts and the cooling fan. Also thanks for info about those Powergrooves, I though they looked strange in the pic. I wonder if there are any survivors left?

If they are truely 8 footer bulbs fitted in. With all 6 bulbs running, it would have 1290 watts of lights Shocked I wonder if there is such exist on one of street out there back then Very Happy

Those are early Power Grooves indeed. The longer grooves were only on one side of the lamp
